The City of San Marcos is hosting two free events for National Water Safety Month. The first is Water Safety Day on Saturday, May 10 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Woodland Park. The event will feature games and activities that teach participants how to be safe in and around all kinds of water. On Thursday, June 22 at 1 p.m. at Las Posas Pool, join San Marcos Aquatics and thousands of children and adults around the globe in once again attempting the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, an event created to spread the word that swimming lessons help prevent drowning and save lives.

National Water Safety Month is an annual awareness campaign coordinated by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals with support from the National Recreation & Parks Association, the American Red cross, and the World Waterpark Association. These organizations represent businesses and other individuals and agencies involved in bringing safe, enjoyable aquatic activities to the American public.
