The City of San Marcos recently hosted a grand opening community celebration for the new Richmar Park. The free event featured a dedication ribbon cutting, live music by Bobby Sanchez Combo, lawn games hosted by the San Marcos Boys and Girls Club, arts and crafts hosted by the city’s youth programs, and light refreshments provided by The Original Mr. Taco. The celebration was originally scheduled for February, but was postponed due to weather.

The 1.8-acre park, funded by a California housing-related park grant and federal Community Development Block Grant funds, features a children’s play area, picnic and social spaces, walking paths, a performance area, and a central shaded gazebo. Richmar Park adds to San Marcos’ existing 34 parks, bringing the total developed parkland space to 275 acres, providing safe recreational opportunities to the city’s residents. Discover more at
