BGCSM Further Supports Youth in the Community
New at the Club
There are some exciting things happening at the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos (BGCSM). The new Best Buy Teen Tech Center is nearly completed and will have its grand opening on Monday, May 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. The Tech Center will be filled with state-of-the-art equipment to provide club members with the opportunity to create and explore technology through hands-on, project-based learning. The Center will also be part of the Clubhouse Network, allowing teens to connect and collaborate with other teens from all over the world. Guests at the grand opening will be able to tour the new facility, explore work stations, and learn more about what the Tech Center has to offer.
BGCSM also recently kicked off its annual staff giving campaign, #GiveLikeABoss, with a goal of raising $10,000 to help support club programs. In an effort to provide a diverse experience that helps young people ages 6 to 18 develop self-esteem and reach their full potential, club programs focus on five core areas: character and leadership development; the arts; education and career development; health and life skills; and sports, fitness, and recreation. BGCSM serves over 3,000 kids and teens, giving them a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, adult role models who respect and listen to them, and interesting, constructive educational and recreational activities.
