San Marcos artist Gregg “Viz” Visintainer won $7,500 in a recent local art contest. The contest was hosted by Southern California salsa company La Victoria in celebration of their 100th anniversary. The company asked entrants to create an original art piece showcasing modern West Coast lifestyle, with a nod to the salsa the company is known for. Gregg’s winning artwork was showcased at an exclusive celebratory dinner party, with food by La Jolla chef Christine Rivera and entertainment by Ocean Beach’s The Verigolds.

Gregg is a self-taught artist and works with pen and ink, creating images rich with hidden details, pictures, and messages.
